University's Smart Health Awareness program, in partnership with Merck and IBM, awarded at Expoelearning 2024

The course imparts training on the application of artificial intelligence in the field of healthcare

Smart Health Awareness Smart Health Awarenessprogram, promoted by Tecnun- the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra, in partnership with Merck and IBM, has been awarded as "Best project in the use of AI in corporate training " at the congress Expoelearning, recently held in Madrid.

More than 1,500 healthcare professionals have participated in this program since its first edition in January 2023. The jury valued the online format of the course, which allows participants to access the theoretical units asynchronously, facilitating flexible learning adapted to their schedules and the methodology applied through videos with virtual reality, offering an immersive and advanced experience to better understand the concepts.

The director of the Professional Programs Unit of the University of Navarra, Ignacio Gil Sáenz, valued the awarding of the award and emphasized: "We consider this award to be a recognition of the partnership of two leading companies with the University, such as Merck and IBM, to develop training actions that benefit health professionals and, ultimately written request, society".

For her part, Isabel Sánchez-Magro, Medical Director of Merck in Spain, added that it is a source of pride that the program has been recognized as the best project of training in the use of Artificial Intelligence: "This award shows that the close partnership between entities bears fruit and that it is essential to promote the development of healthcare professionals to achieve full inclusion of these new technologies in our national healthcare system".

Likewise, the Director of the Academic Sector for Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel of IBM, Pilar Villacorta, pointed out that "it is a sample of the great importance of this subject of programs and collaborations to contribute to the continuous training of healthcare professionals throughout their working life and that they are better prepared for the new technological and professional requirements of the market, especially in a sector as relevant as the healthcare sector".

Framed in the Professional Programs Unit of the University of Navarra, Smart Health Awareness is a course aimed at healthcare professionals and health managers who wish to learn about the present and future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to the healthcare field. The course is structured in five theoretical units that explore from the introduction and strategy, to the ethics in the application of AI in healthcare. This approach provides participants with a comprehensive view of the digital transformation in healthcare. The Study program is completed with real use cases adapted to diverse profiles: doctors, nurses, researchers, managers to offer an experience internship and applied on the possibilities of development in their professional environments.

The professor team consists of AI specialists, business managers, academics and practitioners, who share up-to-date theoretical knowledge and experience internship in the application of AI solutions in the healthcare sector.

Expoelearning 2024, the event of reference letter in digital learning technologies, has celebrated this year its XXII edition. It is a forum for sharing practices, solutions and innovations in subject learning and technology. The Expoelearning awards highlight the talent, innovation, professional trajectory and human values of both individuals and companies involved in the field of e-learning.

The competition values those initiatives of research and digital innovation, websites, blogs, media, companies and professionals that have contributed the most to development learning and the promotion of digital competencies through the training, the Personnel Management Service (human resources) and the transformation of the Education online in programs of Education higher education in Spain, Latin America and other countries.
