Biological research is compatible with human freedom. Understood in a broad context, this cannot be refuted by scientific experiments. This is stated by Javier Bernácer, researcher of project 'Mind-Brain' of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra -which is financed by the Obra Social 'La Caixa' (Obra Social 'La Caixa')and José Manuel Giménez-Amaya, director of group of research 'Science, Reason and Faith' (CRYF).

To reach this conclusion, both experts have carried out a philosophical and neuroscientific review of the concept of habit, which is one of the main lines of research of project 'Mind-brain'. The results are collected in a work that addresses how the philosophical research of habits is complementary to the neuroscientific research on learning.

The work by Bernácer and Giménez-Amaya is a chapter of the book Is Science compatible with free will? published by Springer (New York). The book explores the fields of freedom and consciousness from the point of view of quantum physics and neuroscience, and has been edited by Antoine Suarez (Center for Quantum Philosophy, Zurich) and Peter Adams (Thomas More Institute, London).
