University architect Enrique Jerez, award Europe 40 Under 40 Architecture

The award honors 40 architects under the age of 40, including 6 Spaniards this year.

Enrique Jerez (Arq 04), graduate in Architecture from the University of Navarra, has received the award Europe 40 Under 40 Architecture and Design Award, which annually recognizes the work of 40 European architects under the age of 40. award The award is given by the international institutions The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.

In 2021 six Spaniards have received this award. In previous editions it also went to current professors Luis Suárez, Asier Santas, Jorge Tárrago and Rubén Alcolea of School of Architecture at the University of Navarra.

The goal of this program promoted by The European Centre is to distinguish the next generation of architects and designers who will impact the creation of living and working spaces in cities and rural areas, while the award serves to celebrate, each year, innovation and creativity in this field.

The program is open to young architects, landscape architects, urban planners or industrial designers under the age of 40.

In the case of the architect from Burgos, Enrique Jerez -doctor in Architecture from the University of Valladolid and professor at the University of Zaragoza- the award-winning works were Casa Domínguez Simancas (Valladolid), carried out with José María Gastaldo; Pabellones de Vigilancia para Bienes de Interés Cultural en Castilla y León, project carried out with Koldo Fernández Gaztelu; and the Cobo Estratos Restaurant, in Burgos, carried out with Álvaro Moral and Víctor Manzanedo.

Exhibition in Athens: "40 Young European Architects with New Visions".

All the winning works in the 2021 edition will be shown in an exhibition entitled "40 Young European Architects with New Visions" to be held in Athens (Greece), at the headquarters of The European Centre, in November. The winning works will also be included in the book "The Next New Talented Generation of European Architects and Designers for 2020", published by The Metropolitan Arts Press.
