Students from Master's Degree E-MENU attended the Nutrition Society Winter Meeting, held in London.
22 students doing the EuropeanMaster's Degree in Food, Nutrition and Metabolism (E-MENU) of the University of Navarra have participated in the congress in London, which this year has been dedicated to explain the role of Nutrition in the whole process of cancer, from prevention to treatment during and after the disease. This meeting- held at partnership with the Royal Society of Medicine - is organized by professors from the University of East Anglia and the University of Sheffield. In the case of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition of the University of Navarra, the students attended the event accompanied by professors Alfredo Martínez and Diana Ansorena.
This meeting is part of one of the three international activities of Master's Degree E-MENU that allow students to obtain the accredited specialization of Master's Degree European. multidisciplinary According to Professor Ansorena, "this experience provides students with a global vision of nutrition, presented by international specialists".
"We have realized the potential of dietary strategies to prevent cancer."This was confirmed by Celia Burgaz Andrés (graduate in Nutrition from the Complutense University of Madrid), one of the E-MENU students who participated in congress. For her, this experience "has given us a global vision to understand the potential of dietary strategies in cancer prevention and we have been able to analyze the implications for public health in the general population".
"It is a very enriching international activity in many aspects", adds the future postgraduate, "as it provides us with knowledge, both in the prevention and cure of cancer from the point of view of nutrition, understanding its role during chemotherapy, together with effective nutritional strategies in the final phase of the disease and in the healing process. Likewise, we were able to approach the evolution in the management of comorbidities associated with patients who overcame the disease", concludes the E-MENU student.
Aldo Torres Serna (graduate in Nutrition from the University of Mexico) highlights that the Nutrition Society's winter meeting in London was "a very important experience for me in my professional profile .
