Evaluating skill parental Education of adolescent children

The role of parents in the Education of their children is fundamental. However, is it possible to diagnose whether it is developing properly? Gabriela Pilar García Zavala, student of the second promotion of Master's Degree in research in Social Sciences (MICS), delves into these questions in her work Fin de Master's Degree (TFM).
Of Peruvian origin and graduated in Psychology from the Catholic University of San Pablo (Peru), Gabriela is studying the pathway of Education and Psychology of the MICS thanks to a scholarship of the Social Trends Institute. In her TFM she seeks to validate the Education Family Scale for Adolescents in its version for children (EEFA-VH). The tool was developed by Charo Reparaz and Aurora Bernal, professors at the School of Education and Psychology at the University of Navarra. Through this instrument, it is possible to evaluate the general parentalskill , parental authority and Education in values of adolescents.
According to the student, a clear diagnosis of how Education is developing can allow "detecting the presence of a problem and proposing an appropriate intervention". This is of particular interest in her field of work at the Catholic University of San Pablo, where she has focused on research projects related to family violence and resilience in adolescents.
"In my work, I saw that I needed expertise in methods from research that went beyond psychology to better understand the reality of today's world," he explains, "And that's how I got into MICS.
Theoretical and practical knowledge and personal experienceGabriela makes this research thanks to the knowledge acquired in her MICS programs of study . "The social theory courses gave us the necessary tools to reflect on the current social reality and identify its problems," she says. On the other hand, she has also found the methodologies courses of research very useful, where she has acquired solid knowledge to start researching.
result He adds that Master's Degree has been a very positive experience, as "listening to other students from other disciplines and countries enriches the interdisciplinary experience".
Studying at the University of Navarra has also allowed her to get started in research. The student participated in the XV International Forum on the assessment of the Quality of the research and of the Education Superior (FECIES) where she presented the communication 'proposal of assessment of the project Tuning in Latin America by means of the Delphi method' (page 368) together with the professors of the School of Education and Psychology Erika Egleontina Barrios González and Ángel Sobrino Morrás.
