The University presents the project of research, diffusion and dynamization of Santa Cruz de Eslava.

The activities carried out at the Navarre archaeological site have brought together 1500 people.

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 17, will take place in Civican the presentation of the Program educational of Santa Criz de Eslava, developed by the University of Navarra. Students of the School of Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra have designed the pedagogical resources for promote the dynamization of the Roman site.

In addition, a Virtual Museum has been created where it is possible to visualize, in 3D and through the Internet, some of the sculptural, architectural and epigraphic materials of Santa Cruz de Eslava.

The event, which is part of the activities of the partnership agreement signed between the City of Eslava and the University of Navarra to publicize the Roman site in its centenary, will take place at 18 h. It will be attended by the Councilor of development Rural of the Government of Navarra, Isabel Elizalde, and the head of the Historical Heritage Service, Carlos Martínez Álava.

In addition, Javier Andreu -coordinator of the acts of celebration of the Centenary of Santa Cruz de Eslava and professor of the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra- as well as a group of students of last year of the School of Education and Psychology, who have worked under the direction of professors Ana Costa and Carmen Urpí, members of the group of research VOICES (Voices of Innovation and Creativity in the Education and Society) will also participate.

 
The largest collection of Roman archaeological material in Navarre

The Virtual Museum is result of the research in Santa Criz de Eslava, which has provided one of the most important sets of Roman archaeological material in the north of the peninsula and the largest in all of Roman Navarre. In the digitization has also mediated a project of the agreement UNED of Tudela/Obra Social La Caixa/Fundación Caja Navarra.

The Santa Criz Centenary team has also held an international scientific impactcolloquium on historical issues related to the Roman city; has attended 31 guided tours, and has conducted educational workshops for schools, families and academic staff.

The issue number of visitors to the site in these eight months of duration of the agreement already exceeds 1100, to which must be added the more than 400 participants who, in March and April last year, attended the Roman themed workshops .

This activity is possible thanks to funding from the Government of Navarra's development Rural Program, managed by Cederna Garalur and the support of Fundación Caja Navarra.
