Tomás Rincón, professor of the School of Canon Law of the University of Navarra, died on August 14 at the age of 85. graduate in Theology and Civil Law, and doctor in Canon Law, was director of the magazine Ius Canonicum, and author of books and numerous programs of study.
Born in Abades (Segovia) in 1936, he was ordained a priest on September 24, 1960. That same year he obtained the licentiate degree in Theology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca and in 1969, the doctorate in Canon Law from the University of Navarra, with award extraordinary.
He occupied the position of second vice-director of the high school Martín de Azpilcueta of the University of Navarra between 1983 and 1992 and belonged to the Consociatio Internationalis Studio Iuris Canonici promoting since its constitution. He was also a member of the association Spanish Canonists and in the periods 1988-1992 and 1998-2002 he was part of its board Directive.
Professor Tomás Rincón was one of the authors who contributed to the translation and commentary of the Code of Canon Law. Likewise, his academic life focused on the study of the sacramentality of marriage and the relationship between pastoral power and the freedom of the faithful. These two fields of interest are the subject of two collected volumes he wrote: Relations of Justice and Areas of Freedom in the Church, and Christian Marriage: Sacrament of Creation and Redemption.
He is also the author of La liturgia y los sacramentos en el Derecho de la Iglesia, La vida consecrada en la Iglesia latina, and El orden de los clérigos o ministros sagrados. training He is also the author of The Order of Clergy or Sacred Ministers , Incardination and Juridical Status staff.
