The School of Canon Law celebrated on Saturday June 21 the graduation ceremony of the students who are part of the II promotion of the Master's Degree of Permanent training in Marriage Law and Canon Procedural Law.
Professor Jorge Castro Trapote was the sponsor chosen by the students of the promotion. In his speech he thanked them for this gesture and reminded them that "Canon Marriage Law is not a museum piece", but constitutes "an example of a serious, enlightened, technical law, capable of incorporating advances because it is firmly based on the truth of the rights of the transcendent human person". In this sense, he reminded them that they are beginning a brilliant time to develop this new facet in their lives.
On behalf of the students, the delegate Monika Macarena Kasper thanked the professors, the University, her family members and her classmates for everything they have experienced during the course and recalled different anecdotes from the weeks they spent in the classroom and the months they spent training and teaching online.
Professor Joaquín Sedano, Dean of the School, closed the end of the degree program. In his words he recalled that "few things unite as much as the shared effort for something worthwhile". And he pointed out that a very important chapter in their lives is closing and opening: "Over the course of a year you have acquired technical knowledge and at the same time you have delved into the very heart of Canon Law, where marriage and the family are not mere juridical concepts, but living realities that support the fabric of our society and the Church.
He concluded by reminding them of the mission statement to which they are called: "To accompany with wisdom and mercy those who are going through marriage crises, to discern with justice and charity, and to guard the beauty of the sacrament of marriage, based on experience, faith and reason.
