Four University researchers repeat their presence among the most cited in the world

Clarivate's 'Highly Cited Researches 2021' list highlights 6,602 scientists from more than 70 countries.

Professors Jesús San Miguel, Miguel Ángel Martínez-González, Ignacio Melero and Pascual Berrone, researchers at the University of Navarra, are for the second year among the most cited scientists in the world, according to 'Highly Cited 2021 Researchers'. The list, compiled by Clarivate Plc. following the Web of Science citation index, recognizes 6,602 scientists from more than 70 countries; 109 of them are Spanish.

The list identifies "those researchers from around the world who have demonstrated significant influence on their specialization program, through the publication of highly cited articles over the past decade in journals that rank in the top 0.1% of citations," Clarivate notes.

Dr. Jesús San Miguel is director of Clinical and Translational Medicine at the University of Navarra, director doctor of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and director scientist of the Cima. Full Professor of Hematology, has published more than 800 papers in international journals, and contributed to more than 20 international guidelines on diagnosis and treatment of myeloma. He has received the highest distinctions from the European (Carreras Lecture) and American (Ham Wasserman Lecture Award) Societies of Hematology, along with important national awards, among which the award Rey Jaime I stands out.

Professor Miguel Ángel Martínez-González is director of the department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra, where he is also Full Professor at the same specialization program. Appointed (2016) Full Professor Visiting Scholar at Harvard University, this 2021 he has been renewed position. With an index h=137 (Google Scholar) and 1456 publications (Clarivate), he has trained numerous young researchers who are now Full Professors and Professors. He is IP of the project SUN, with more than 23,000 participants and around 300 publications.  

Dr. Ignacio Melero is co-director of the Immunology and Immunotherapy Service of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and researcher senior of the Cima. Full Professor of Immunology and professor of the School of Medicine, as researcher he has written about 300 articles in international scientific journals. Dr. Melero is a corresponding member of the Spanish Royal National Academy of Medicine and has received the Gran award Bial de Medicina (Lisbon, 2004) and the award de research from the Francisco Cobos Foundation (Madrid, 2020) among other awards. His research focuses mainly on cancer immunotherapy strategies and he is director of the degree scroll Expert in Immuno-Oncology.

Prof. Pascual Berrone is the academic director of the Executive MBA in Madrid, Full Professor of Strategic Management and holder of the Chair Schneider Electric Sustainability and Business Strategy at IESE. He is also vice president of the Ibero-American Academy of Management. Prof. Berrone has been recognized on several occasions for his research work, such as the IBM Faculty Award for his work on the strategies of research and teaching in his book 'Cities and urban development'.
