The University promotes Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Transfer with expert lectures
Knowledge & Tech Transfer Talks' is an initiative launched by Office of the Vice President for Research and Sustainability to create a culture of knowledge and skills transfer, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Technology Transfer Office and knowledge and Innovation Factory have launched the Knowledge & Tech Transfer Talks, a series of conferences aimed at the academic and research community with the participation of recognized experts in the field of innovation and transfer. This initiative is a key opportunity to share knowledge, ideas and opportunities around technology transfer and knowledge.
Paloma Grau, Vice President of research and Sustainability at the University of Navarra, explains that "with the participation of leading innovation and transfer professionals, these sessions seek to inspire researchers. Through their knowledge, experiences and unique perspectives, the talks aim to motivate attendees to reach their full potential and explore new ideas."
Among other objectives of the conferences are also to facilitate the exchange of ideas and networking, acting as a platform for sharing experiences and networking. "We hope that these opportunities will allow participants to connect with experts and other professionals in their field, fostering partnership multidisciplinary , mutual learning and the generation of valuable synergies," says Grau.
The Knowledge & Tech Transfer Talks are a boost to the mission statement of Office of the Vice President for Research and Sustainability to foster a collaborative and dynamic environment, promoting excellence in research and innovation at all levels. Its ultimate goal is to support the development of an impactful and focused research , one of the objectives of Strategy 2025 of the University of Navarra.
The value of transferring in science
The first of the conference of this lecture series was focused on the value of science transfer. Marisa Tejedor, Technology Transfer Manager at the Botín Foundation, gave the first of the talks focused on a core question: why transfer if I am a scientist? To answer this question, she offered perspectives core topic for a knowledge transfer with social impact based on real and successful cases.
Xavier Tapias, director of the Office of Technology Transfer and knowledge, and Belén Goñi, director of Innovation Factory, shared the latest initiatives in transfer and entrepreneurship designed at the University of Navarra to support researchers, motivated by the latest legislative updates, both national and European, around Science, Technology and Innovation.
A sample of the value of transfer was the success story shared by Juan Manuel Irache, Full Professor of Technology and Chemistry Pharmaceuticals of the University of Navarra who explained the steps followed to turn an idea into several entrepreneurial initiatives, both in the pharmaceutical field (with the creation of InnoUp Farma, a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the research and development of medicines) and nutrition and health(Nucaps Nanotechnology, a biotechnology company dedicated to the encapsulation of bioactives and probiotics for nutrition and health).
The last talk was given at position by Jorge Barrero, director general of the COTEC Foundation for Innovation, Spain's leading Think Tank on Innovation, who shared new approaches to measuring innovation, especially for scientists.
Nearly 100 people attended the first workshop of this lecture series, held at auditorium of Cima University of Navarra.
