On Sunday, May 20 will be held the II Solidarity Walk "Murchante moves against cancer". The event is organized by the Club Patín de Murchante, the association de Mujeres Albahaca and the Town Council of the town, and has the partnership main of three companies of the Ribera, Rockwool, SKF and Repuestos Agrícolas Mayoral, in addition to Obra Social "la Caixa", Florette, Recarte Talleres and dozens of establishments and sports clubs of Murchante and other towns of Navarre. "After the success of attendance last year, in which we raised more than 12,000 euros, this year we have set out to increase participation to continue our support for research against cancer. We are very excited as companies and individuals are reaffirming their support for this initiative. In fact, we expect a turnout of close to 3,000 people," explains Virginia Salcedo, organizer of the event.

The funds raised, through registrations (5 euros), contributions from collaborating companies and the sale of products donated for the meeting, will go to a project of vaccines against cancer that is being developed at the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA) of the University of Navarra. "Thanks to the financial aid of this solidarity walk, we will be able to continue with the development of a vaccine based on our previous work , which boosts immunity against cancer and could be applied to patients with common tumors in our environment," explains Dr. Pablo Sarobe, researcher manager of project.

Three modalities

According to the organizers, "participants can do the walk by skating, running or walking. The most daring can even combine the three modalities". Depending on the level of each participant, the following schedules have been established:

• 10 h: Skates, initiation level.
• 10.30 h: degree program, initiation level.
• 11 h: Skates, advanced level.
• 11.45 h: degree program, advanced level.
• 12.30 h: test of 5 km through the "Urban Circuit of the town".

In addition to the sporting events, throughout the morning there will be different activities, such as children's entertainment and face painting for the little ones, tasting of local products, as well as a solidarity raffle of gifts donated by the collaborators.

People interested in collaborating in this solidarity walk against cancer can register on the online platform Rockthesport, the City Council of Murchante and Forum Sports in Tudela (Puente de la Ribera Shopping Center). The deadline ends next May 6.
