On November 16, the Library Services of the Ibercaja Huesca center welcomed different authorities and leaders from the health and academic fields for the inauguration of the exhibition "The Art of Caregiving".The Art of Caring". The sample, led by the School of Nursing of the University of Navarra, aims to pay tribute to and describe the profession through concepts such as care, trust, sacrifice, dedication or research.
It was the Official Nursinghigh school of Huesca who was interested in bringing the exhibition to the capital of Huesca. According to its president, Carmen Tosat, "the goal that we pursue from the high school is to transmit to society the values of the profession. This initiative of the University of Navarra, besides being very original, perfectly reflects all those values that we want to share, so we wanted to bring it to Huesca".
The opening ceremony, which began at 6:00 p.m., was also attended by the dean of the School of Nursing, Mercedes Pérez Díez del Corral, the delegate of the Government of Aragón and nurse, Carmen Luesma Casañola, and the mayor of Huesca, Luis Felipe Serrate.
After a few brief words from the entities to thank the effort to carry out the exhibition, the president of the high school and the mayor were in charge of cutting the inaugural ribbon of the exhibition. "Nursing is a fundamental profession in our society, as they have demonstrated during the pandemic, not only in professional care, but also in human accompaniment", assured Serrate during the presentation of the exhibition. For his part, Luesma wanted to emphasize that "this exhibition reflects the professional, social and staff involvement of all the people who are part of the nursing profession".
"The vocation of service as a point of union between care and art."
The project "The Art of Caring" began with an survey in November 2019 to people outside of nursing about what concepts they considered most associated with the profession, collecting a total of 1,163. Subsequently, they shared 16 of the results obtained with the students of the Degree in design of the School of Architecture to creatively shape the panels that make up the exhibition. The sample has already visited cities such as Santander, Bilbao, Seville, Zaragoza, Gijón, Oviedo and Pamplona.
