A project of the group of research Siglo de Oro of the University of Navarra has been selected for the Consolider Ingenio 2010 program, the maximum commitment of the National Program research and development +I of the Government of Spain. The initiative, directed by the academic center's Full Professor Ignacio Arellano, is integrated, with nine other teams, within the program "Spanish classical theatrical heritage. Texts and instruments of research", which will receive a total funding of 2,300,000 euros.

The five main lines that compose it are: the creation of new tools for research and the application of new technologies to the research on Spanish classical theater; the systematic edition of the theatrical heritage to make it available to the academic community and the professional; a diversified set of programs of study on specific aspects of the area; the creation of a collection of European classical theater, in digital edition and in several languages (with hyperlinked translations); and an active policy of dissemination and projection of the research carried out, and of training of new researchers in this area.

CONSOLIDER projects offer long-term, large-scale funding for excellent research groups and networks in any of the knowledge areas of the research and development+I National Program. The objectives of this initiative are to increase the average size of research groups, to increase the financial endowment of the best research lines, to break with the excessive fragmentation of research and to boost the participation of public research centers in the European framework program.

"Patrimonio teatral clásico español. Texts and instruments of research", composed by 136 researchers belonging to 49 universities and some centers of research, is the first project of Philology that enters in this selection.

On behalf of the University of Navarra, researchers Ignacio Arellano, Álvaro Baráibar, Enrique Duarte, Andrés Eichmann, Juan Manuel Escudero, Luis Galván, Celsa Carmen García Valdés, Mariela Insúa, Pilar Latasa, Carlos Mata Induráin, Jesús Menéndez Peláez, Blanca Oteiza, María del Carmen Pinillos, Jesús María Usunáriz and Miguel Zugasti.
