2014_03_18_ICS_seeks volunteers for a research on emotions in the Spanish digital press.

The Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra is looking for volunteers to participate in a research on emotions in the digital press. The study, led by Omar Rosas, is part of the project 'Emotional culture and identity', which is supported by sponsorship of Zurich Insurance.

Specifically, students from the University of Navarra and the Public University of Navarra (UPNA), between 19 and 25 years old, and professionals between 28 and 50 years old are needed. The requirement is to regularly read national digital press.

With these three groups, the aim is to organize focus groups to study readers' reactions to emotional news, that is, reports and news in which different emotions are presented, commented and transmitted through text, images, audio and video.

Three focus groups

The goal is to identify public perceptions and attitudes towards the treatment of emotions in Spanish online media, with the purpose to better understand the implications and/or consequences of journalistic approaches to emotions on readers.

The focus groups will consist of group dialogues between 8 people, animated by the researcher, in which the participants will be able to express their ideas about the topic under discussion. Each group will attend a single session lasting 60-90 minutes. All will be held at Institute for Culture and Society, in the Library Services building at Humanities.

The meeting with students from the University of Navarra will take place during the week of March 24-28. Sessions with UPNA students and professionals will be held during the week of March 31 to April 4.
