"Help and love one another: live fraternity."

Message of the Archbishop of Pamplona, Msgr. Francisco Pérez, during a colloquium with students about Pope Francis.

Once the date was set, Chaplaincy set it in motion and publicized it on posters and social networks. "Pope Francis and today's youth" was the hook. The quotation, September 17 at eight in the evening; the place, the classroom 6 of the School of Communication; and the speaker, the Archbishop of Pamplona, Msgr. Francisco Perez.

Minutes before his arrival, the conference room could have hung the full house sign, but the archbishop never leaves anyone out. He filled all the seats, the side aisles and even the central aisle. Jorge Miras, University Chaplain, sat next to him, and the archbishop, after publicly congratulating President on his birthday and receiving welcoming applause, began his exhibition. Behind, written on the blackboard, the hashtag: #juventudfe. label with which the students shared their impressions during the whole colloquium.  

He highlighted the Pope's simplicity and his interest in living the service to the Church without being the protagonist. "There we find the Pope and that is what attracts. He has captivated young people," he said. "The Pope does nothing else but live the charism that the Spirit of the Lord gave to Peter: 'You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church.' How is it possible that after 2013 years he is still there? This is God's work," he added.

"We were surprised because we did not know him, but the important thing is that we have a Pope who is the successor of Peter, who recreates and favors that the Church lives in that music that Christ left us, in those notes proper of the Church: One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic". At purpose of this message, he explained the importance of Unity, Holiness, Catholicity and Apostolicity; and how the Supreme Pontiff represents and lives these "notes".  

Likewise, during the lecture he won over the speakers when he announced that he himself as archbishop has the enormous responsibility of taking them all to Heaven.

 

colloquium After his address exhibition , the students were able to ask him about different aspects such as what the Archbishop expects from young people, the importance of confession and spiritual direction, the importance of celibacy in the priesthood within the Latin Catholic Church and how to live the virtues of obedience, chastity and poverty.

Regarding the latter, he told the students that living in poverty is not living in misery, but managing well the gifts that God gives us and being generous, in solidarity: "You can also live by working hard and not making your parents spend too much".

The Archbishop did not want to miss the opportunity to pray for peace in Syria and for those who suffer, before closing the session. All standing, after an Our Father, the colloquium was closed.

More than 300 students participated in the colloquium where they were able to convey their concerns.
