Sustainability will be the protagonist of the XX Sports Day at the University of Navarra, to be held this Saturday, the 21st, with the partnership of La Caixa and other entities such as the City Council of Pamplona, ALCER, Coca-Cola and Diario de Navarra.

"This year's Sports Day will revolve around sustainability and that's why we want the central element of the day to be that as many people as possible come by bike. This way they will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle and to have a free check-up," highlighted the director of the Sports Service of the University of Navarra, Javier Trigo, during the presentation of the workshop.

Between 10.00h and 19.00h on Saturday there will be different sports activities. Along with the usual in past editions and the traditional giant paella open to all citizens, the workshop will feature as last year with the Festival of the Song of Sport and a zip line of 113 meters to move around inside the sports facilities.

Likewise, Raúl Marqueta, the territorial director of la Caixa in Navarra, Aragón and La Rioja, has indicated that la Caixa and the University of Navarra have many values in common and that is why they will continue to collaborate with the academic center.

With the financial aid of different organizations, the XX edition of the Sports Day will feature several solidarity activities. Sofía Collantes, coordinator of Tantaka, explained that there will be a giant volleyball in which for each participant the Sports Service will allocate one euro to the reconstruction of houses, through Caritas and the Red Cross. There will also be an ALCER digital photography contest, where all participants will be entered into a drawing for a Tablet.

European Week of the mobility

This year, the University of Navarra wanted to join the European Week of the mobility on Sports Day to make people aware of the importance of making a more sustainable campus . In addition to the fact that everyone who cycles down to sports center will get different gifts, there will be other activities related to sustainability: a choo-choo train, which will have three stops -Iturrama, place Félix Huarte and parking sports center-; a tour of the campus by burricleta (electric bicycle); a test area with electric vehicles; a Segway tour; and pedal karts.
