The project 'Horizonte 2015' of the University of Navarra bets on the research to generate business network and employment

It focuses on four major projects of research: Bioengineering, Nutrition, Humanities and Neglected Diseases.

The proposal of Campus of Excellence of the University of Navarra will be presented tomorrow in Madrid at the headquarters of the committee Superior de Investigaciones Científicas along with 21 other projects. "Horizon 2015. Where talent and progress come together" is based on the concept of Research University, in which the research has an impact on a more innovative and international teaching and results in a significant improvement of the training of student. The number of researchers will be increased B: around 400 new researchers will be added to the 1,500 researchers already working at the University.

The four new research centers listed in the project Horizon 2015 (Bioengineering, Nutrition, Institute for Culture and Society, and Neglected Diseases) respond to areas of knowledge that have been selected based on the capacity of research and economic and social needs; in addition, they will base their model of management and attract private investment on the expertise of the CIMA (research center Applied Medical). The budget planned for each center ranges between 10 and 1.5 million euros, and they are expected to be in plenary session of the Executive Council operation by 2015.

To promote transfer, a Business Incubator of the University of Navarra will be created, whose mission statement will be to provide a market outlet, in the most efficient way possible, for the results of research generated in the centers. In this way, it will contribute to generate more employment and economic dynamism, especially in the region. Precisely, the University has been integrated in the Moderna Plan, a bet for a new productive model promoted by the main political, economic and social agents of Navarra. In addition, the main authorities of the region will be in Madrid tomorrow to support the candidacy of the University of Navarra.

Cultural transfer, quality of the teaching and sustainable campus

The project Horizonte 2015 has a special emphasis on the transfer of results not only from subject technological but also cultural through the new Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Navarra. This center will make available to Navarre and international society its art collection, which combines the bequest of María Josefa Huarte and the Photographic Fund, which has more than 8,000 photographs and includes the best photographic collection of the nineteenth century on Spain.

The project aims to improve the quality of the teaching through a greater commitment to the research, the internationalization of the body professor, and the training of the student with a view to its subsequent professional degree program . In addition, the University is working on a sustainable model of campus so that citizens can enjoy a caring ecological environment.
