The colloquium was attended by leading scholars from Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Mexico and Spain and with the participation of young doctoral students from the University of Navarra. The aim of purpose was to share and reflect, in an atmosphere of dialogue and exchange of experiences, on the Stoic notion of Oikeiosis and its subsequent reception in the Greco-Roman, Persian, medieval and modern world. The philosophical discussion focused on authors such as Cicero, Epictetus, Avicenna, John Locke, David Hume, Adam Smith and Kant. The contributions made showed the explicit presence of important Stoic sources and their relevance to such central questions as the natural basis of ethics, the theory of action and anthropology.
