Dr. Matías Ávila, appointed advisor external scientist of the high school Cochin in Paris.

Dr. Matías Ávila, director of the Hepatology Program of the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA) of the University of Navarra, has been appointed external scientific advisor of the high school Cochin, in Paris. The high school Cochin, which is part of the high school National Health and Medical research (INSERM), the National Center for Scientific research (CNRS) and the University Paris-Descartes, is one of the most prestigious biomedical research centers in France. It is composed of more than 680 researchers, grouped into 36 teams of work, and studies the fundamental mechanisms as well as the physiological and pathological processes of development metabolic, tumor and inflammatory diseases.

Dr. Ávila is a pharmacist and Full Professor of Biochemistry of the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra. As researcher he studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms of liver disease progression. Since last year he is a member of the board of Government of the Spanishassociation for the Study of the Liver (AEEH) and of the committee advisor Scientific of the high school National Cancer of France for the region of Bordeaux-Aquitaine. He is also an associate publisher of the journal Gut, official publication of the British Society of Gastroenterology.
