The high school de Salud Carlos III funds 25 biomedical research projects at the University of Navarra

These programs of study are focused on discovering mechanisms and new treatments for cancer, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, among others.

The high school de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII), attached to the Ministry of Economics, Industry and Competitiveness, has selected 25 projects from research of the University of Navarra, within its call of the Fund of research in Health (FIS) of 2016. These are programs of study focused on discovering mechanisms and new treatments against cancer, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, among others.

The high school de Salud Carlos III is the main public organism of research that finances, manages and executes the biomedical research in Spain. Specifically, FIS grants are intended to finance projects for a maximum of 3 years.

Out of the 25 projects, 15 correspond to programs of study of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra on Radiation Oncology (2), Oncohematology (2), Endocrinology (2), Medical Oncology, Internal Medicine, Nuclear Medicine, Pediatrics, Allergology, Hepatology, Pneumology, Microbiology and Cell Therapy.

The research center Applied Medicine (CIMA) has received funding for 7 projects from research in Cell Therapy (2), Oncohematology (2), Immunology, Solid Tumors and Hepatology.

Finally, the ISCIII has subsidized three works of the Schools of Sciences and Medicine of the University of Navarra, focused on Microbiology, Histology and Preventive Medicine.
