New Vice-Dean of Students and new director of the department of History of the School of Philosophy and Letters

The president has appointed Dolores López as Vice-Dean of Students of the School of Philosophy and Letters, replacing Javier Andreu, appointed director of the department of History, Art History and Geography.

Dolores López has a degree in Geography and History (1991) and a PhD in Geography (1997) from our University and a Master of Science in Demography (1993) from the London School of Economics (LSE). Professor of Human Geography in the School of Philosophy and Letters, she teaches class in different Degrees of this center and in the School of Law, as well as in the Master's Degree of Marriage and Family and in the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental and of Buildings.

Her topics of research are framed in the programs of study of family (women, fertility, conciliation, old age and youth), mortality and migrations. She has made stays of research at the LSE, the Office of Population Research (Princeton University), and the Centre d'Estudis Demográficos of the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona.

board The School of Philosophy and Letters thanks Professor Andreu for his work during these years and emphasizes that "his dedication has been core topic to consolidate the complementary training activities aimed at students and to channel their concerns in times of great change". It also appreciates "his special academic involvement and staff in the creation and promotion of Diploma of Archaeology as a differential and complementary training offer for the Degree of History, compatible with his excellent career professor and research, which has led him to obtain last year the appointment of Full Professor".

The president has appointed Javier Andreu director of department of History, Art History and Geography. He replaces Pablo Pérez López at position .

Javier Andreu is graduate (1996) and PhD (2002) in History from the University of Zaragoza. He completed his programs of study at the universities of Coimbra, Oxford, Munich and Heidelberg, where he was scholarship recipient of the Humboldt Foundation. In 2010, he began teaching at the Universidad Nacional de Education a Distancia (Madrid).

In 2014 he joined our University as professor of Ancient History, area of which he is Full Professor. He is also promoter and director of Diploma in Archaeology. In 2018 he was appointed Associate Dean of Students of the School of Philosophy and Letters, position which he has combined since 2021 and, to date, with that of Associate Dean of research and postgraduate program.

The board directive of the School of Philosophy and Letters thanks the work carried out by Professor Pérez López during these years in which he has made compatible the position with the scientific direction of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS): "He has promoted the instructions research in the field of Contemporary History and Women's History, especially with the training of young doctors and taking the initiative in the development of the teaching online, with the training courses of programs of study on women and training in Equality".
