The dancer Lucía Guarnido will open next Monday the V Cycle 'Thinking Flamenco' of the University of Navarra with a show in which she will be accompanied by guitar and singing. The meetings will be held from Monday to Wednesday, at 7.30 p.m., and will also include a lecture by journalist José María Velázquez Gaztelu, entitled 'Momentos del corazón', and the concert 'Buma y sal' by group Zorongo.

The Company of Lucia Guarnido will present the show 'Cuadro Flamenco', with a recital that will go through some palos from tradition to the most current trends. "We want to show flamenco without complex storylines or scenographies, in its simplicity. It seems to us that the dancer Lucía Guarnido embodies the discipline from this perspective and transmits flamenco itself", emphasizes Marta Revuelta, director of the area of Cultural Activities Office of the University of Navarra.

She also assures that "remembering some flamenco figures, in the historical and anthropological field, is one of the objectives pursued by 'Pensar el Flamenco' since the University of Navarra promoted it five years ago".

Experiences born in Navarra for Flamenco

Thus, the lecture 'Momentos del corazón', which will take place on Tuesday 24, will travel to the early 70's with a selection of the series 'Rito y Geografía del Cante', filmed by José María Velázquez along with Mario Gómez and Pedro Turbica for TVE. The journalist will transfer the most representative moments of the series with some flamenco figures such as Paco de Lucía, Camarón, Morente, Mairena, Caracol or Marchena through an illustrated lecture .

Finally, on the 25th will be held the musical show 'Bruma y sal', composed of own and original pieces. The group Zorongo is formed by seven musicians, including the director of the Choir and Chamber Orchestra of the University of Navarra, Ekhi Ocaña. It is an open and varied musical proposal capable of taking the audience from the most intimate and deepest aspects of flamenco to more lively and carefree aspects.

Marta Revuelta stresses the need to "present some contemporary musical experiences that are also born in Navarra, in the year that pays tribute to a Navarrese flamenco in his centenary: the guitarist Agustín Castellón 'Sabicas'. In this way, the group Zorongo seems to us a vitalist experience of the current flamenco", says the director of Cultural Activities Office of the academic center.
