The School of Nursing of the University of Navarra has celebrated the graduation of the I Promotion of the UniversityMaster's Degree in internship Advanced Nursing in Oncology. A total of twenty students from Madrid, Catalonia and Navarra, most of them with extensive experience in the professional practice in the field of oncology, put an end to their stage of postgraduate program.

The event was attended by Javier Reguart, mathematician and architect, who was invited to be the sponsor of the graduating class, who began his speech by alluding that "the connotation that this graduation is the beginning of something bigger seems more challenging to me. The IESE Business School professor also mentioned artificial intelligence at reference letter : "We are in a world that is constantly changing and to which we cannot be oblivious. Most of us are aware that these transformations will have impacts and unintended consequences. And although artificial intelligence will solve many things, it will never be able to replace nurses, because they are the only ones who bring affection and humanization to patient care.

After the presentation of diplomas at submission , Soraya Benítez and Marta Gil, representatives of the graduating class, thanked their classmates for the moments they had experienced during these eleven months of classes and internships: "We have had to learn to look at ourselves to be better professionals and better people every day. We have not been alone, we have always been accompanied by the faculty of Master's Degree, and now we are the first graduating class of a Master's Degree that has given us the necessary tools to be able to take better care of our society".

Then, the director of Master's Degree, Dr. Navidad Canga, said that she felt "an immense joy to be here and to be able to address you. Today we close a stage that began on October 5, 2022, something far away but that we have lived intensely during this time". He also wanted to make accredited specialization the fact of being trained in this role that is increasingly being implemented by health systems around the world: "You are pioneers. Now begins your degree program as Advanced internship Nurses, a profile that arises to respond to the challenges of modern healthcare, and from the University of Navarra we have offered you the necessary tools to be leaders in oncology".

The ceremony was closed with the words of Dr. Nuria Esandi, Vice-Dean of research, thanking the students for depositing their training in the School of Nursing: "I thank you for your commitment and work these months. Always remember that the University and School will always be your academic home to return to, because, even if you have finished your studies, you will always be Alumni members of our Institution".

18 years training leaders

The School of Nursing began to develop the training of Advanced internship Nurses in 2005, after the stay made by Navidad Canga in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, to learn about this profile emerged in the early seventies in the United States.
