17 students from Master's Degree E-MENU of the University of Navarra participate in the Nutrition Winter Meeting in London.

The conferences, with speakers from universities such as Harvard, focused on per diem expenses and its relationship with cardiometabolic risk.

17 students of the EuropeanMaster's Degree in Food, Nutrition and Metabolism (E-MENU) of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition of the University of Navarra attended the Nutrition Winter Meeting, a quotation organized by the Nutrition Society, which took place in London. This year's theme was the relationship between per diem expenses, lifestyle and cardiometabolic risk.

This activity is one of the three international outings that the students of Master's Degree E-MENU carry out as a European Master's Degree . The other two are the attendance Nutrition & Neurosciences Meeting (Bordeaux-France) and the European Summer School.

During their stay in London, the students were accompanied by postgraduate program professorDiana Ansorena, who emphasizes that one of the main objectives of these sessions "was to gain a better understanding of the impact of dietary fats, carbohydrates and other lifestyle factors, such as dietary patterns or chrononutrition, on cardiometabolic risk. In addition, some strategies for reducing cardiometabolic risk were established".

Harvard speakers

One of the most outstanding presentations was given at position by Professor Eric Rimm (Harvard University), who stressed the importance of studying dietary patterns. Professor Ansorena emphasized that "he stressed that the current scientific evidence supports patterns with high consumption of healthy fats, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and moderate alcohol consumption, as well as those with low levels of added sugars, refined grains and trans fats".

In other talks to which the students of Master's Degree E-MENU had the opportunity to attend , it was emphasized, for example, that replacing saturated fats with polyunsaturated fats -especially omega-3 fatty acids- in the per diem expenses website has beneficial effects on cardiovascular risk markers.
