A rudder in the storm' is the degree scroll of the work of Ángel Baguer, Deputy Director of the technical school of Engineers of San Sebastián.
Ángel Baguer, Deputy Director of the technical school of engineers at TECNUN (TechnologicalCampus of the University of Navarra in San Sebastián), has compiled much of his professional experience in Un timón en la tormenta (publishing house Díaz de Santos, 2001), a practical guide for human resources management in companies.
"It is intended as a financial aid to control the direction of organizations and achieve their objectives through good human resources management ," the author said. In recent decades, the growing development of technology, information technology and electronics, and the globalization of Economics have revolutionized the business environment, "a changing environment in which the client is the king of a difficult and unstable market due to the high Degree of existing competitiveness," explained Ángel Baguer. And in unstable, stormy times," he added, "organizations cannot work as they did in the past, not even as they did a decade ago".
The book consists of eleven chapters. The first three chapters reference letter to how companies should be organized today, presenting the different possible models depending on the activity and strategy of each organization. "The horizontal structure is the only way to take advantage of the creative potential of all employees, and at the same time it is a very important motivating factor," said the author. The book also discusses topics such as motivation, work climate, change management , leadership and the decision-making process. Of particular interest is the section on communication in business, which describes the possible channels for communication, how to deal with rumors and how to plan and conduct work meetings in order to be effective.
People, the core topic organizations"In this changing environment, the person is undoubtedly the core topic organizations, the most valuable asset of the business," said the Deputy Director of the technical school of engineers at the University of Navarra. In his opinion, employees are increasingly required to have more initiative, a spirit of sacrifice and identification with the organization's objectives, but continuous technological progress is reducing the need for staff"If the person is the most valuable asset of the organization, why is it the asset that is most easily dispensed with?" asks this expert.
For this reason, A rudder in the storm is aninternship tool to "achieve the organization's objectives based on the premise that every year, in order for the business to be competitive, it must improve in quality, cost and service with the same people," he concluded.
