Alessandra Sierra, a 4th-year student of design, is originally from Mexico City and chose to study design accredited specialization fashion because she considers it "a very staff way staff expressing yourself and showing the world who you are." Her passion led her to enter the international design competition design Futures, where she has been selected as one of the finalists and whose work exhibited at The One Milano fair in February.
Furmark Futures, competition at design students, encourages the sustainable and creative use of fur. Inspired by this edition's theme, "Natures Forward," Alessandra created "Maizal. Rooted in nature, reborn in fur," a look inspired by corn, "a natural, iconic, and cultural element in Mexico for more than 10,000 years," she explains.
The ensemble consists of four pieces: a corset, a fox fur stole-sleeve that mimics the organic shape of corn leaves, a skirt made from corn husks that simulates the drape of traditional Mexican dresses, and heeled boots that reinterpret the morphology of whole corn.
