More than twenty professors from different Schools colleges participated in the second seminar ethics organized by the Core Curriculum Institute at the University of Navarra. The event featured a presentation by Ana Marta González, professor and director of Philosophy department . According to the expert, "our profession is not a parenthesis in our ethical life. Ethics is an intrinsic dimension of any internship professional internship ."
Likewise, "professional ethics is a concrete expression of general ethics; it seeks to make explicit the goods, virtues, and norms involved in a given internship , which has a defined ethical core, but one that is permeable and conditioned by the cultural and social context." Hence the need for reflection: What are the requirements for a good internship in the current conditions? To what extent do institutional forms, created to protect the integrity of practices, really serve that purpose? In addition to determining the ethical core of each profession—and the history of professions is a financial aid this regard—he alluded to the different dimensions of responsibility involved in professional practice.
About the term ‘profession’
Specifically, González referred to the complexity of the notion of 'profession', in which economic and ethical considerations converge. Based on a recent study by Tiziana Faitini, he reviewed thesis , for whom the convergence of both aspects in a single word was the result of the Reformation. "The term 'professio' already had an ethical meaning in Rome, linked to political inclusion and the exercise of activities useful for social life. This meaning was integrated by Christian exegesis into religious language and, after merging with the ethical tradition of officiis, it finally acquired economic significance," he explained.
Thus, our idea of "profession" encompasses both the idea of "public service" and that of "rule of life." Although different occupations have gained recognition as professions at different times in history, he pointed out that "in the modern context of an intense division of work, where we are all dependent on each other, it has become possible to extend the label 'professional' to all jobs, provided that we are aware of their ethical dimensions."
The second meeting professional ethics is part of the "Commitment" line of Strategy 25-30, whose goal to contribute to the professional world through ethics in order to achieve the humanization of society.
