Juan Luis Lorda, professor of the School of Theology at the University of Navarra, has published 'La vida intelectual en la Universidad'. The book, which has been edited by EUNSA, raises in its pages the fundamentals of the task of educating; it gathers many experiences on the activity professor and on the art of writing; and provides a wide and select commented bibliography .
As Professor Lorda points out, "it is aimed at the minority that believes in intellectual life as an authentic and exciting activity that seeks the beauty of truth. And that, for that reason and to that extent, it renders today, as always, a great service".
He also emphasizes that to say that intellectual life or the university is in crisis is a cliché: "They have always been in crisis, because their ideals are much greater than what can be achieved. But the challenge of each era is not to let those ideals dissolve in mediocrity or in the routine of the 'academic Ferris wheel', as a great novel formulated. That is the creative tension that gives meaning to intellectual life and the measure of its honesty".
Juan Luis Lorda is Full Professor of Theology and director of department of Systematic Theology at the University of Navarra. He is also director of high school Mayor Albáizar and author of numerous theological essays and Christian training . For more than thirty years he has taught courses on Christian thought and anthropology in different Schools of the academic center.
