The Full Professor Manuel Casado, researcher head of the project 'Public discourse' of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra, has published a new book graduate La innovación léxica en el español actual.
The work offers a systematic and coherent, updated and synthetic vision of the resources of lexical innovation in current Spanish. It deals in a unitary way with the systems of training of words, object of lexical morphology, as well as semantic procedures and lexical borrowings.
In the development of the different issues dealt with, emphasis is placed on their innovative nature and their idiomatic correctness, since innovation and correctness are concepts that should not necessarily be at odds with each other.
All linguistic innovation takes place at speech. In addition, the subject of speech conditions innovative phenomena. The last chapter analyzes the extent to which the "newspaper column" genre is permeable to the innovative phenomena occurring in current Spanish.
