María Blanco Prieto, professor at the University of Navarra, joins the committee Executive Committee of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The professor of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition focuses her research on nanomedicine and bioengineering for the treatment of various diseases.

María Blanco Prieto, professor at School of Pharmacy and Nutrition at the University of Navarra and researcher at IdiSNA, has been appointed member of the Executive committee of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Sciences(EUFEPS), whose mission statement is promote excellence in innovation and research in pharmaceutical sciences in Europe.

This entity also aims to support training and Education, as well as to represent the interests of scientists engaged in the research and development of drugs, and to advise on regulatory aspects and pharmaceutical policy.

EUFEPS is an organization led by scientists from areas as diverse as Nanomedicine, Quality by Design, Bioavailability / Biopharmaceutics, Regulatory Sciences, etcetera. It also co-organizes events in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. It also publishes the scientific journal European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

For her part, professor and researcher María Blanco Prieto has focused her work on the development of new nanodrugs for the treatment of childhood cancer, as well as on the regeneration of cardiac and brain tissue through the use of tissue engineering.

The advertisement of the integration of Prof. Blanco in the committee executive of the EUFEPS took place at the congress annual meeting of the Federation, held in Athens, where she gave a lecture on "Nanomedicine for childhood cancer". The next congress will take place in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) from 6 to 8 March 2019. In it María Blanco Prieto will be part of the scientific committee . The topic of the lecture will be "Personalized medicines, targeted therapies, precision drug delivery".
