"There is something in which artificial intelligence will not be able to surpass human intelligence: consciousness. The robot will never respond to human freedom, it will never respond to an option staff; in the decision-making processes there will always be something mechanical," said Javier Leach, partner honorary professor of Computer Systems and Computing at the Complutense University of Madrid, at the University of Navarra.

The Jesuit expert participated in a seminar organized by the group of research "Science, Reason and Faith" (CRYF) of the academic center, with the degree scroll The language of Mathematics and the language of Religion. Javier Leach stressed that mathematical systems are a bottomless pit: "It is difficult to control their progress. Its growth can be like cancer; if we do not control it externally, mathematical growth can get out of hand".

On the other hand, mathematician Javier Leach presented his point of view on the relationship between science and faith. "I think that in this relationship theology has to take an initiative to approach the scientific world". He also stressed that science by its very nature and methodology tends to isolate itself; however, theological and philosophical reflection must necessarily be open to all human realities.

"There are mathematicians who are open and others who are not, but mathematical language has been closing in on itself. In my opinion, it is an open language, it hints at the possibility of a metaphysical leap and everyone can make it because it is something proper to the human being: to be aware of one's own limitations and ask those ultimate questions."
