The patron saint of the NursingSchool , St. Elizabeth of Hungary, was celebrated on September 18.

It was a workshop which not only remembered St. Elizabeth of Hungary and her story of submission in the care of the sick, but also managed to transmit the essence of the School of Nursing throughout all the activities .

The submission and service to others that the students learn and put on internship during the years of degree program, was reflected in the involvement with the solidarity purpose of the day: the support to the Rett Syndrome therapy.

partnership with Palliative Art for Rett Syndrome Therapy

Thanks to Raquel Gónzalez - Pinto and Rafa de Oza, mother and father of Paula, and member and president of the association Catalan Rett Syndrome, the stories of Paula and Silvia Fernández, president of the Palliative Art Foundation, reached the School de Enfermería.

The Fundación Arte Paliativo was born from the experience staff of Silvia Fernández with her older sister. They both grew up in a family in which art and health were constantly meeting because of their father and mother's work . However, art took on a new prominence in their family's life when they discovered that their sister, with an undiagnosed rare disease, communicated through art and music. For Silvia, communicating with her sister through art and music was what inspired her to dedicate herself to caring for others (Silvia Fernández, award Princesa de Girona Social 2023).

Today Arte Paliativo works with more than 12 centers, including hospitals and nursing homes, to work with the emotional dimension of patients. However, not all people with Rett Syndrome live in homes or are in hospitals, many receive physical pain treatment at home, and what about emotional pain?

The partnership with the School of Nursing has helped Arte Paliativo to bring emotional therapy to private homes and thus support the mission statement of "reducing the emotional suffering of people living with an illness through artistic expression".
