Winners of the University of Navarra's mineral collection raffle

More than 500 people participated in the contest organized by the School of Sciences on the occasion of the International Year of Crystallography.

Javier Blázquez and Ana Iriarte from Navarra, Spain, have won the raffle of two collections of minerals from the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra result . The winners participated along with more than 500 people in the contest organized by the academic center on the occasion of the International Year of Crystallography declared by UNESCO.

A total of 529 people from the Comunidad Foral, the Basque Country, La Rioja, Soria, Burgos, Aragón, Catalonia, Valencia, Castilla La Mancha, Asturias, Andalusia, Madrid, Murcia, Tenerife and Mexico had to correctly answer a series of questions related to minerals. According to one of the winners, Ana Iriarte, her interest in minerals arose as a result of studying Forestry Engineering. "It makes me very excited that the University has awarded me with these prizes, especially at this time of the year," she added.

For his part, Javier Blázquez, a first-year student at IES Basoko, owes his participation high school diploma IES Basoko, owes his participation "to the fact that during the first quarter of the course we have studied Geology, types of rocks, minerals... I do not see myself in the future studying something related to this field but I do see myself studying science. I plan to study INEF since everything related to the human body interests me".

Ana Rouzaut, vice-dean of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra, and Borja Mora-Figueroa, director of development of the center, participated in the submission awards ceremony. The event had the support of the Friends of Science Club and the Pamplona Planetarium partnership .
