Students from School of Architecture toured Lisbon with architects Bak Gordon and João Pedro Falcão de Campos.

The visit is part of the subject Projects IV, in which students develop a project hotel in Trafaria.

A group group of fifth-year Architecture students from the University of Navarra went to Lisbon from January 13 to 15 with Rubén Labiano, professor of subject Proyectos IV. The Lisbon architect Ricardo Bak Gordon was waiting for them there. Ricardo Bak Gordonvisiting professor at the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra this semester, and with whom they will develop a project hotel in Trafaria, a small town opposite Lisbon, on the other side of the Tagus, on the border between the river and the ocean.

In addition to visiting the project site, the students were welcomed by a manager from the municipality who introduced them to the urban, social and historical context of the city.

The trip to Lisbon continued with guided tours of the city accompanied by architect Bak Gordon, with whom they were able to visit the recently inaugurated Car Museum, a work he designed at partnership with award Pritzker Mendes da Rocha.

João Pedro Falcão de Campos, also an architect from Lisbon and visiting professor at the School, accompanied the students from the Chiado district, with Álvaro Siza 's urban proposal in the area, the Pombaline Baixa, jewel of Lisbon's urban planning, to Castelo de São Jorge, through the "elevators to the Castle" for which he recently received the award FAD. Cascais, Sintra and the Expo area completed this intense visit to Lisbon.

Historically, architects' travels are part of the architectural learning process," explains Rubén Labiano, "the in situ experience of the architectural event, especially when accompanied by the architect-creator, is irreplaceable," he adds.

The School of Architecture has been committed for years to the intensification of international visits during the degree program with the goal to provide students with a global vision of the profession. In this sense, the new Degree in programs of study of Architecture that the School will teach from the 2017-18 academic year includes stays abroad, as well as international internships and trips like the one that fifth-year students recently made to Lisbon.
