Ignacio Arellano, director of the group of research Siglo de Oro (GRISO) of the University of Navarra, and Andrés Eichmann, researcher of the GRISO, have been appointed corresponding members in Spain of the Bolivian Academy of the language "in attention to the scientific merits in the field of the Philology achieved by their persons".

The appointment is a recognition of the work developed by the GRISO in the dissemination of the Hispanic programs of study in Bolivia through different initiatives, such as the congress international on the Baroque that the GRISO co-organizes every two years in Bolivia; the elaboration of publications such as Cancionero mariano de Charcas and Letras humanas y divinas de la noble ciudad de La Plata, by Andrés Eichmann; or Entremeses, loas y coloquios de Potosí, by Ignacio Arellano and Andrés Eichmann, included in the collection "Library Services Indiana" of the GRISO. Or the implementation of activities aimed at the recovery and enhancement of the Bolivian cultural heritage.

Among them is a program subsidized by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for the development (AECID) and which includes the project "In the footsteps of Recio de León", a journey of research that has tried to reconstruct, in 2009, 2010 and 2011, the journeys reflected in the chronicles of the Spanish discoverer Juan Recio de León (XVII century) through the jungles of the Madidi River.

The same program also has other lines of action, with approach more social, that have as goal the training of cultural leaders and guides, or the creation of ecotourism itineraries that contribute to the development of different regions (lowlands, Chiquitanía...).

For this reason, professors Arellano and Eichmann, as well as Carlos Mata, GRISO secretary, visited Bolivia this summer to conduct field research, give several lectures and strengthen relations with the Universidad Nuestra Señora de La Paz, the Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz (UMSA), the Universidad Católica Boliviana, the Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno, the file Histórico de Santa Cruz de la Sierra and the Fundación Visión Cultural, among other institutions.
