On August 30, at 7:30 p.m., the University of Navarra Museum welcomes new students and their families with a concert open to the whole city, to be given by the Orquesta Juvenil Nacional del SODRE, from Uruguay, and the Orquesta Sinfónica Universidad de Navarra. The recital, prior to the European tour to be undertaken by the Uruguayan group, will include works by Tosar, de Falla, Gardel, Piazzola and Márquez and will be attended by the conductors of both groups, Ariel Britos and Borja Quintas. The general entrance costs 12.5 € and 10 € for students.

This is the second time that the Orquesta Juvenil Nacional del SODRE visit the MUN, after the concert it gave in 2015. "In its presentation showed great professionalism and energy, and Carlos Bernar, director of Campus Creativo, had the idea of crossing the two groups after a few years. We received a first visit from director, Ariel Britos, in which we set the instructions of what would be the meeting. It had to be postponed because of the pandemic, but we have been able to take it up again now," explains Quintas.

About the repertoire, the director of the Orquesta Sinfónica Universidad de Navarra highlights that "the public will find a fresh and colorful program with some of the most famous Latin American symphonic pages, combined with two works by Manuel de Falla. In one of them, seven violinists selected from the two orchestras will participate as soloists. Maestro Ariel Britos will be in charge of the works by Tosar, Gardel, Piazzola and Márquez, while I will conduct the works by Manuel de Falla".

MEETING OF ORCHESTRAS

In addition to the concert, the two orchestras will live together from August 28 to 30, a meeting in which both groups will be able to exchange experiences and reflections on music and the university training , in addition to rehearsing the concert pieces.

"Due to its characteristics, the experience will be very enriching for the musicians of the Orquesta Sinfónica Universidad de Navarra. The Orquesta Nacional Juvenil del SODRE follows a system similar to that of Venezuela, using music as a vehicle for social insertion and human development . In their tours they are showing great results and I am sure that the human and artistic coexistence will be unforgettable for both parties. The main challenge will be to unify and unite the musical work during these intense 72 hours that we will spend together. Hopefully we will be able to return the visit soon!", values Quintas.
