105 films from 21 countries participate in the International Telenatura Festival of the University of Navarra
The competition, which will take place between October 25 and 28, was presented today with a falconry exhibition.
The University of Navarra has presented the X edition of Telenatura, International Television Festival for the knowledge dissemination and Conservation of Nature. It has done so in a special way, with a falconry exhibition, to position falconer Javier Castillo, which has been held inside the Sciences Building Social. The event was attended by the directors of the festival, Santiago Echeverría and Bienvenido León, together with the dean of the School of Communication, Mónica Herrero.
The competition, organized by the School of Communication of the University of Navarra and the Planetarium of Pamplona, will be held between October 25 and 28 in both centers.
A total of 105 works from 21 countries have been submitted to the Festival , from which 22 finalists have been selected, distributed in the categories of documentary, reportage, amateur production and NGO. Among them there are from American, European and Asian superproductions, to works by NGOs and young filmmakers who are just starting out in the field of documentaries on nature and the environment.
According to Santiago Echeverría, co-director of competition, "this year we have clearly perceived what has been called the democratization of production; that is to say, the equipment costs less money and this has helped to increase the quality of amateur works".
For his part, the other co-director of the festival, Bienvenido León, explained the different activities of this year's festival. As a novelty, the screenings will be in high definition, thanks to partnership from business Christie. "This year we will have the opportunity to see films from other countries, of exceptional quality, and some very different from what we are used to seeing," he emphasized.
Workshops on environmental journalism and documentaries
In addition to these screenings, two workshops will be held at training for students and professionals interested in this area of audiovisual production. The first one will deal with "Environmental journalism" and will be given by José María Montero, environmental journalist with more than two decades of experience and director of the program "Espacio protegido", of Canal Sur Televisión.
The second workshop is degree scroll: "Production and realization of documentaries on nature. The Nautilus style". It will be given by Jan and Melanie Haft, founding partners of the German production company Nautilus Films, one of the most awarded production companies at international level.
