Developing artificial intelligence tools to predict tumor growth or the response to genetic analysis. This is the goal of the research carried out by Full Professor Jesús López Fidalgo, director of the Institute of Science of the data and Artificial Intelligence (DATAI) of the University of Navarra.
The expert is currently at department Biostatistics at the School of Public Health of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) working on a project focused on the use of Artificial Intelligence applied to medical needs. The Full Professor of the University of Navarra is investigating the development of a statistical model generated by Artificial Intelligence that could predict the possible growth of a tumor in patients or the response to a genetic analysis thanks to an optimal processing of information from previous patients. This analysis allows to reduce the resources to obtain data, which means an improvement in the results.

On the occasion of his stay, the researcher of the University of Navarra has received an invitation to publish an article with the main conclusions of the research in Annual Review of Statistics and Its Application, the scientific journal issue one in the category "Statistics and Probability" according to the Journal Citation Reports. Jesús López Fidalgo is working together with Weng Kee Wong, a renowned biostatistician who did his doctoral thesis with Dennis Cook, researcher famous for the development of the popular Cook's distance used in machine learning, a fundamental part of AI.
