20 students from North Carolina visit the University to learn about environment-related projects

The students have participated in sessions with professors from different centers and Schools

20 students from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have visited the University of Navarra to learn about sustainable development and renewable energy projects being carried out at the academic center. The students, who are currently on a tour of Europe, have had sessions with experts and professors from various centers and Schools.

Thus, the American group was welcomed by the department of Environmental Biology who presented them the Master's Degree in Biodiversity, Landscapes and management of Landscapes of the School of Sciences and the different lines of research related to the environment. Later, they had meetings with professors from department of History, Art History and Geography and from School of Communication. Finally, they visited the School of Architecture where they were introduced to the projects of Building sustainable; and the School of Engineers of the University of Navarra (TECNUN), where they went deeper into renewable energies.

"It has been a very positive experience and we hope it will be repeated in future courses," explained Professor Arturo Ariño, coordinator of the visit to the University and director of the department of Environmental Biology."We want to bring the international character that our research already has to teaching. The School has agreements with other universities around the world, such as the University of California - Berkeley that collaborates in the Master's Degree in Biodiversity, Landscapes and Sustainable management , and our idea is to expand our contacts and agreements more and more".

In addition to visiting campus of the University of Navarra, the North American university students were also able to visit several renewable energy companies and facilities, as well as City Hall and Government offices in Navarra, before continuing their trip to Germany.
