"There are many situations in life that, when we are physically defeated, we win them with our heads," said Teresa Perales, an elite athlete, 26-time Paralympic medalist and expert in coaching. This is what Teresa Perales, elite athlete, 26-time Paralympic medalist and expert in coaching staff and sports, said during her participation in the 19th IESE Alumni meeting of the Navarra, Basque Country and La Rioja Alumni Association.

"The emotional management is something very important, emotions are trained with a lot of patience but do not usually fail. Neither in the most difficult moments when we are under pressure," he added.

The elite athlete told the audience at the Museum of the University of Navarra about her life experience in an interview with Santiago Álvarez de Mon, professor of Personnel Management Service in Organizations at IESE Business School. goal Perales said that "whenever you try and fight, you've already won something," and that for her, when you don't achieve the goal you were aiming for, "it's not losing, but stopping winning.

The interview, which had by degree scroll "Living in change and uncertainty", was an opportunity for Teresa Perales to tell the audience how she changed her attitude in life when at 19 years old she was diagnosed with a neuropathy that caused her to stay in a wheelchair: "You are used to use your legs every day because you've been doing it since you were born and the moment I lost the mobility for me was the opportunity to discover everything again, from scratch".

She also explained that, both in sport and at business, it is essential to make workers see their talent, "which is often hidden behind their skin". In this sense, she commented that the phrase that changed her life was said by her coach when he saw her for the first time in the pool: "You are a diamond in the rough that we have to polish". She commented that, as a result of being in a wheelchair, it was her attitude and determination in the face of this irreversible status that has allowed her to achieve everything she has accomplished to date: "That things happen that we don't expect is part of the wonderful thing about life", since "if we had everything guaranteed, it would be very boring".

The event at presentation was attended by the University of Navarra's Alumni Vice President , Tomás Gómez-Acebo, and the president of the Regional Alumni Association of Navarra, the Basque Country and La Rioja, Javier Chocarro, as well as director of the IESE Alumni Association and Institutional Development, Javier Muñoz. Muñoz briefed the alumni attendees on the latest developments in IESE's programs and activities.

Finally, Professor Santiago Álvarez de Mon gave a lecture discussion paper under the degree scroll "El ciudadano de hoy y el tiempo, una relación conflictiva" and the closing of the meeting was position by Pilar Lostao, Vice President of International Office and Alumni of the University of Navarra.
