Berta Pinto graduated in Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the University and, to complement her training, she sought a program with a broader approach that covered, in addition to the clinical approach , the field of research. "The EMENU was an impulse to take my first contact with the world of research, providing me with solid knowledge that has allowed me to move in this field with ease -she confesses-. On the other hand, it gave me the opportunity to do my Final Yearwork Master's Degree in the laboratories of the University and the possibility of attend to attend international congresses, which made learning even more enriching".

With that training, which "has contributed enormously" in her professional development , Berta is now doing the doctoral program in Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Quality of Life at the University of La Laguna. "My doctoral thesis tries to translate, validate and adapt culturally to Spanish a tool used to assess food addiction in children and pre-adolescent population and subsequently, to apply preventive strategies to eating disorders that may debut in these stages," she explains. "The study was carried out in schools on the island where I live, Tenerife, with the idea of extending it to the rest of the islands".

In addition, she combines this work with the teaching in the Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and her development as a clinical dietitian-nutritionist and member of the board Directive of the high school of Nutritionists of the Canary Islands. "I am also a collaborator in a scientific knowledge dissemination program called "El laboratory", of Canarias Radio, which is broadcast weekly and is dedicated to the dissemination of science in the Canary Islands. In my section attention I try to bring the world of nutrition closer to the listeners from a scientific basis".
