"Public service is not an easy task," said the former Vice President of the Government of Navarra, Lourdes Goicoechea, last Friday, January 19, during a session of the cycle of colloquiums of the Master's Degree of Government and Culture of Organizations of the high school business and Humanism of the University of Navarra.

He also stressed that the official must know how to deal with the risks that work entails: the image staff, which is not always sample positive; the media, whose free opinion is subject to its own ideology; the danger of separating oneself from reality; and losing sight of the goal raised.

The former vice-president underlined the importance of considering responsibility in the fulfillment of a public position , a matter that was covered from several fronts. In order to achieve this obligation, Goicoechea assures, the public function must be governed by guidelines of equity and justice. Hence, the highest ethical standards of responsibility and commitment are demanded from those who hold state power.

In this way, Goicoechea points out some suggestions that he considers to be the bequest of his mandate: "to remember every morning the proposed goal , not to spend more than the income, and, above all, to fulfill all the commitments that are acquired without losing sight of the responsibility that one has on what one does".
