Joan Fuguet explained how, before the middle of the 12th century, the three religious-military orders settled in strategic points of Barcelona and had abundant possessions in territories close to the medieval city, reaching their peak throughout the 13th century, although developing unevenly. B The expert referred in more detail to buildings such as the Palau del Temple, the Palau de la Reina, San Juan del Hospital or the priory or canonical of Santa Ana, examples of the monumental and artistic heritage of the three institutions, which is often ignored even by the people of Barcelona.

The session, organized by the project de research "Frontiers and Culture" of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra, is also part of the "seminar Santos García Larragueta", a series of academic meetings related to the study of the Military Orders.

Professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona and the Escuela de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Muebles de la Generalitat de Cataluña, Joan Fuguet Sans is the author of a doctoral thesis entitled L'arquitectura dels templers a Catalunya. He is a corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi.
