Reflection on the role of the assistant manager

An international symposium, on the occasion of ISSA's 50th anniversary, framework , will address the changes experienced in the business

Interview with the organizers of the ISSA 50th Anniversary International Symposium.

Leticia Bañares y Ana M. FernandezISSA professors at the University of Navarra, are part of the committee organizer of the International Symposium which will be held in San Sebastian on the following days May 23 and 24. This Symposium is part of the activities planned for the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of ISSA School of Management Assistants and is aimed at professionals, professors, doctoral students, researchers, students and those interested in business organization in general.

"ISSA has been training professionals for over 50 years for the business and through their professional trajectories we have perceived a change that has made us consider the need to study the role of the new assistant manager", comments Leticia, who adds that "it is a fact that in the last 50 years the role of the new assistant manager has changed. the business has changed radicallyflexibility and work as a team are a reality; it has gone from being a local institution to an organization that can be transplanted to other countries". On the other hand, he also affirms that business "has gone from having a management team that made all the decisions to one that decisions are participatory, the leadership is collaborativeWe believe that our students also need to be trained in this area.

"We are at a time when initiative, creativity, innovation, are values on the rise."

During the Symposium, Yih-teen Lee, Adjunct Professor Personnel Management Service in Organizations at IESE Business Schoolwill give a lecture at lecture on interculturality in companies.

In addition, a roundtable in which the following will participate Esteban García CanalFull Professor of Business Organization at the University of Oviedo;  Manuel Guillén ParraSenior Associate Professor of Business Organization at the University of Valencia; Estíbaliz Ortizcollaborating professor of Personnel Management Service of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Carolina Ugarte Artalvice dean of the School of Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra.

The second day will feature parallel sessions of communications The main focus will be on the area of the competenciesbut there will also be communications dedicated to the middle management, communication and marketing.

Workshops have also been organized in which alumni will share their professional experiences. Ana M. Fernández explains: "We are going to organize three workshops with different thematic areas: entrepreneurship and innovation, multicultural environments and employment opportunities of the assistant manager".

"New ideas always emerge from dialogue. We are at a time when initiative, creativity and innovation are values on the rise and these two days can be very fruitful for everyone," concludes Leticia Bañares.
