Sara de Pedro studied Pharmacy at the Complutense University of Madrid and, after finishing degree program and with the goal of working in the pharmaceutical industry, she started looking for a program that would allow her to continue her education. "I needed to broaden and strengthen my training about the process of development of a drug and I wanted to learn how the pharmaceutical industry works. Without being too clear about the area in which I wanted to specialize, I looked for a generalist Master's Degree that would cover the whole process of development of a drug, from the earliest stages, such as the preclinical development , to the most advanced stages: commercialization, marketing... I found what I was looking for at the Master's Degree University of research, development and Drug Innovation (MIDI) of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition and I moved to Pamplona".
He assures that the training and the experience acquired during the program provided him with a great development and growth staff. "On a work level, I consider that it was the trigger to start my professional journey. I finished the Master's Degree in December 2017 and in less than a month I was working at ViiV Healthcare (GSK) in the department Marketing of an innovative and 100% dedicated HIV pharmaceutical company that aims to improve the lives of people living with this disease."
"During the first year, I was a Citius Fellow, a program that combines the academic training of a proprietary degree program with mentored internships at a business. During this time I learned a lot about science, products and processes. In addition, I complemented it with some of the subjects offered by this program," says Sara. At the end of the scholarship, ViiV Healthcare (GSK) decided to hire her and she is still at business.
"MIDI provided me with a great knowledge and a solid foundation on which I have been building my foundation through professional experience and daily work ."
