The School of Sciences of the University of Navarra organizes, for the ninth consecutive year, the "Club de la Ciencia", an informative activity aimed at students of 1st and 2nd grade of high school diploma from all over Spain and Spanish-speaking countries.

"The goal of this course is to increase the scientific knowledge of the society, to transfer science to the new generations by the hand of experts, and to awaken new scientific vocations", points out José Manuel Trillo, director of development of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra.

This year the sessions are oriented to approach the pandemic from different perspectives. For example, physics, Chemistry, zoology, microbiology, vaccines, aerosols, data analysis, PCR, social distancing or lifestyles, among others, will be discussed.

"These sessions are intended to stimulate young people to be able to reflect on the different branches of science, and the importance they have to understand certain global problems, their origins and consequences, as is the case of the current pandemic," adds Trillo.

The first session will begin on November 16 at 19:30 with the intervention of Ignacio López-Goñi, Full Professor in Microbiology and science popularizer, who will speak on "Covid-19. It is the time for science and cooperation". Other sessions planned for this new edition will feature the following experts: "The physicochemistry of viruses" by José Ramón Isasi; "Animals and human health" by Enrique Baquero; "What is a PCR, why does Covid detect and why does it do so well" by Iñigo Izal; "Are we able to move respecting social distancing?"by Iñaki Echeverría; "Anticovid (lifestyle)" by Pedro González; and "data analysis in times of pandemic" by Francesc Pujol".

Students will be able to join the Science Club throughout academic year and enjoy the planned sessions and other new ones that will be added. The course is free of charge and registrations can be made through the course web page or by e-mail at scaireta@unav.es. Participants will receive an accrediting diploma of the attendance once the course is finished.
