Marina Andrés, a 2nd year Pharmacy student at the University of Navarra, and her sister Elena launched via Instagram the @reto1euro, a solidarity campaign at partnership with Cáritas. The initiative consists of raising funds that the NGO will manage in its entirety to help those most in need to deal with the consequences of the coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19).

With the slogan "Donate 1 euro to people without resources", the campaign has so far raised 1,000 euros since its launch on March 22.

"COVID-19 does not only affect those who suffer from it," Marina explains. "We don't realize that in Spain there are many forgotten people in the pandemic landscape, who find themselves in a very difficult status ." For example, unemployed families, elderly people without resources and vulnerable people are some of those who suffer most from the consequences of quarantine.

The Andrés sisters decided to create the campaign when they heard a advertisement from Cáritas to raise funds. Thus, with the contribution of the @reto1euro they, along with all donors, will collaborate in the solidarity goal of the NGO.

Marina confesses that the mobilization of citizens on social networks to show their solidarity in a fun way, such as uploading a photo of their own childhood or videos with a roll of toilet paper, pushed them to "create a real challenge with the true meaning of sharing". To make it a step between all, the sisters encourage to upload on Instagram a photo in home clothes, donate 1 euro and invite others to join the challenge.

Donations to the @reto1euro can be made through payment systems such as Paypal or Bizum and through the GoFundMe platform for amounts starting at €5. The sisters assure that, although it may seem a small step, "it is important to believe that with just a little, but together, we can do great things these days".
