Mª Isabel Saracíbar, a native of Olazagutía (Navarra), has been appointed dean of the School School of Nursing at the University of Navarra. She replaces Mercedes Pérez Diez del Corral, who joined as director of the School of Nursing in 2005.

Mª Isabel Saracíbar, married and mother of four children, has a degree in Nursing (1982) and is a specialist in Medical Nursing; a degree in Humanities (2000); and a PhD in Education with award extraordinary (2009) from the University of Navarra.

She worked for 12 years as a nurse in the Clínica Universidad de Navarrauntil she joined School as a professor of nursing. She was its director from 1997 to 2005. In 2002 the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing named her a member of the Boston Chapter for her leadership in the development of the research and the theory of Nursing in Spain.

She has been a member of several scientific committees of national and international congresses and associations. She is an evaluator of the Spanish Agency for Evaluation and Projection (ANEP) and the Commission of training Continuous Navarra (Government of Navarra. department Health).

The new dean has developed 11 projects of research (5 of them as principal investigator) and has 30 publications in journals and book chapters. She has also participated as speaker in more than 60 national and international conferences.
