Mariajosé Martínez wins the first contest of essay 'Challenges of today's world'.

This Mexican, graduated in Philosophy and Journalism, has dealt with how the space of work influences the emotions of employees.

Mariajosé Martínez Quesada, a native of Mexico and a graduate in Philosophy and Journalism, has won the first edition of the essay competition in social sciences 'Challenges of today's world', organized by the Master's Degree in research in Social Sciences (MICS) of the University of Navarra. Her work addresses how the work space influences employees' emotions.

The award was awarded during the graduation of the first graduating class of Master's Degree. The award consists of average scholarship to study the MICS in the 2017-2018 academic year and 500 euros in cash.

The winner of the competition says she decided to apply because at the ICS, which coordinates the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), which coordinates postgraduate program, she can combine her training as a philosopher and journalist to "propose projects with social applications. She believes that taking the MICS will help her to train as an interdisciplinary researcher.

Innovative proposals

The competition aims to be a platform for students with an interest in research to develop and share innovative proposals to the challenges of today's world. It proposes participants to write a essay on one or more of the issues addressed by ICS projects: emotions and identity, communication in the public sphere, religion and contemporary society, poverty and development, or Education and adolescence.

The MICS has the direct partnership of the Schools of Communication, Law, Education and Psychology, Nursing, and Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra. It is accredited by the National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation and its training program allows students to specialize in six tracks: Communication, Geodemography, Linguistics, Education, Law and Nursing.
