Professor Mehmet Kilic, from the department of Molecular Biology of Akdeniz University (Antalya, Turkey) presented at the School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra the results of his programs of study with ochratoxin A, a food contaminant that occurs naturally in some foods.
In particular, he explained how testosterone levels affect the kidney and liver damage caused by this substance.
The professor's visit is part of the project of research PIUNA"Carcinogenic effect of ochratoxin A: influence of sex on the mechanism of action", which is currently being carried out from the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the School.
In addition to the Toxicology and Instrumental Techniques laboratories of the School, the guest visited the proteomics, genomics and bioinformatics unit of the CIMA.
